This Summer: Dress with Less Stress

What am I going to wear today? Will that look good? Do I look like I’m going to the beach or the office? Will I be judged? Does it make me look fat? Is my outfit too fitted? Can I still wear black?

The many worries and concerns running through of our minds during summer mornings while we prepare for the day, a meeting, a date, or just a weekend brunch. Summer is exciting. It’s warm outside, the sun is typically shining, and we are happy to get outside and enjoy the warm temps while we hang out with friends. So why waste time worrying about if your outfit is right or not? Because unfortunately, we can’t help it. There are so many choices with the maxi dresses/skirts, pencil skirts, sundresses, parachute pants, workout outfits, dressy shorts, and cropped pants/jeans.

My 3 tips to live by (whatever the season):

  1. Black always works (unless you’re the bride in a wedding…awkward).
  2. Wear what you are comfortable in (aside from your PJs), because your confidence will show when you are not fidgeting.
  3. It’s better to over-dress than underdress. Well unless you’re hiking and decide to wear heels (no, please no).

Next, think about the occasion and think…simple.

  • Workplace: As cuberiot, said – don’t wear what you’d wear to the beach. If it’s beach appropriate, it’s probably not right for the office. Stick to covering the areas you wouldn’t your boss to see.
  • Dinner or drinks: Pencil skirt, shift dress, or cropped pants/jeans.
  • Weekend brunch or walking about town: Sundress, maxi dress/skirt, shorts.

Still not sure? Go with your go-to-outfit in your closet. You know you have one.
