“Diet starts on Monday..” How many of you have caught yourself saying these exact words? I’m sure many of you have your hands raised including myself. As summer is setting sail, we are all trying to be beach ready with clean eating during the week to fuel our bodies for the weekend. Personally, I love making sure I get my greens so I can feel energized, ready to kick some ass and take on the week. But I recently have been loosening my grip on these strict diets and just letting myself listen to my body. Sometimes, you need that mouth-watering dessert or toffee nut filled latte. And I can say I’m hell of a lot happier than I was last summer. Switching it up to a more balanced diet improves your mood and is much easier to maintain year round. If you want to feel great, consider maintaining a balanced routine that allows you to indulge when you’re having a craving, but in moderation. Check out some tips below – Your body will thank you later.

  1. Eat until your full and focus less on finishing your plate.

Listen to your body and give it the nutrition it needs. This doesn’t always mean you need to finish the entire plate. Sometimes you need less, and sometimes you need more.

  • Eat slowly.

This sounds incredibly silly but allowing yourself to enjoy, taking your time eating instead of zipping through a meal within 5 seconds.. allows you to understand your body and know when you are full.

P.S. I’m still working on this one ?

  • Indulge.

If you are craving that crème brulee or macaron, go for it! Understanding your body when you have those cravings is important and helps long-term so you don’t binge eat later due to deprivation.

  • Eat Breakfast

Just like the saying goes, Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Starting your day this way allows you to replenish your body and concentrate on the tasks ahead with a clearer mind.

…Now excuse me while I go pour myself mango gelato and watch a lifetime movie ?
